Obituary of Jerry Nell Miles Milton

Services for Mrs,. Jerry Nell Miles Milton, age 74 of Olla, Louisiana will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Riser Funeral Home, Olla with Winnfield Latter-day Saints Church Branch President Justin Hardy delivering the eulogy, and at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Olla First Baptist Church, Olla with Reverand Johnnie Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Chickasaw Cemetery, Olla. Visitation will be Monday, April 17, 2017, at Riser Funeral Home, Olla, from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Olla First Baptist Church, Olla, from 10:00 A.M. to time of service. Mrs. Milton was born on June 30, 1942 in Urania, Louisiana to the union of her parents, Frayne and Jewel Weaver Miles and passed from this life on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia, Louisiana. Jerry Nell was a member of the Olla First Baptist Church, Olla. She loved her Sunday school class and worship music there. Mrs. Milton's greatest delight was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always a part of her grandchildren's lives including all their activities. She loved cooking for her family and others. She was a graduate of LaSalle High School where she earned the John Phillip Sousa Award as a clarinet player in the LHS band. She went on to earn as Associate's Degree in Business at Northeast Louisiana University, Monroe where she later worked to handle news releases for the college. Jerry Nell was married for 54 years to her husband, Donal and they had three children. She worked at several jobs including as a business manager for several family oil and gas ventures. Jerry faithfully took care of her grandchildren and cared for her mother-in-law, Nell Milton, for five years until her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Perry Miles. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Donal Andrew Milton; daughter, Donna Nethery and husband, Mike of Denham Springs, daughter, Mary Thompson of Olla; son, John Milton and wife, Ana of Redmond, Washington; extended family, Dave and Wendy Green of San Antonio, Texas, brother, David Miles and wife, Efralin of Olla, sister, Carolyn Miles and wife, Mary Jane of Palestine, Texas, sister, Marilyn Miles Loftus and husband, Lynn; grandchildren: Tiffany Nethery Ross and husband, Jeremy, Kathleen Thompson Deanda and husband, Juan, Michael Nethery, Jeromy Thompson and wife, Taylor, Gijhanny Linkemer, and Isabella Milton; great-grandchildren: Gavin Ross, Mason Ross, Sawyer Thompson, Lilah Thompson, Tucker Thompson, twin Deanda's on the way and many friends. Pallbearers will be Johnny Fryar, Michael Gough, Michael Nethery, Jeromy Thompson, Gavin Ross, Robert Weaver, Jr., Bryce Stott and Dave Green.
