Obituary of Bobbie Jean Poole Smith

Funeral services for Mrs. Bobbie Jean Poole Smith, 72 of Jena will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Bro. Craig Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in the Jena Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the funeral home in Columbia from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Bobbie Jean Poole Smith was born on January 25, 1945 at Monroe, LA to the union of her parents, Frank Nccoy Poole and Katie Mae Richmond Poole. She passed from this life on May 7, 2017 at the Jena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her sisters, Gracie Halley and Ella Moore, and a brother, Grady Poole. Bobbie grew up in Columbia, LA. In the early 70’s she moved to Jena where she owned and operated the Strand Theatre in downtown Jena which is now in the process of being restored. Bobbie was a homemaker who loved interior decorating and arts and crafts. She was a caring housewife and mother.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of thirty-two years, Paul Smith of Jena; her daughter; Tammy Griffith and husband, Billy of Jena; her step-son, Steven Smith of Jena; her step-daughters: Terri Balzej and Sharon Wascom; her sister, Bettie Oser; her beloved grandchildren: Megan Powe, Ryne Griffith, Michael Smith, Stephanie Smith, Dalton Wascom and Kalene Ainsworth; and her great-grandson, Hudson William  Griffith.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chuck Noland, Kenny Oser, Scott Franklin, Dennis Wascom, Dalton Wascom and Joseph Peppers.
