Obituary of Betty Jean Allen Ballard

Funeral services for Betty Jean Allen Ballard, age 83, will be held at 12:00pm Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, Louisiana, with Bro. Robert McKeithen officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery in Clarks, Lousiana. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00am until service time at the funeral home.

Betty was born May 4, 1934, in Oak Grove, Louisiana, to the union of Tom Allen and Odell Cheek Allen.  She passed away May 13, 2017, at her residence in Patterson, Louisiana, following a lengthy illness.     She was the devoted wife of Murphy David Ballard, Jr. for 61 years, until his passing in 2013. They lived in several states throughout their lives together and retired to their hometown of Clarks, Louisiana, for many happy years.  Betty took great pride in her home and family.  She was very talented in crochet needlework, quilt making, embroidery, and sewing. 

Mrs. Ballard is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Easley and her husband Lonnie Easley of Patterson, Louisiana; granddaughter Mary Easley Comeaux and husband Jay Comeaux and great-grandson Alexander Comeaux,  of Houston, Texas; granddaughter Rachel Easley; her brother R.H. Allen and wife Wanda Allen of Memphis, Tennessee, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Odell Allen, her husband Murphy Ballard, Jr., and her sister Earline Allen Eason.
