Obituary of Betty Jean Johnson

Funeral services for Betty Jean Hart Johnson, age 82 will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, Louisiana with Rev. James McMurray and Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, Louisiana.  Visitation will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Betty was born January 26, 1935 in Harrisonburg, Louisiana to the union of her parents, John Millard Hart, Sr. and Cora Monnin Hart. She passed away peacefully on May 28, 2017 at Plantation Manor Nursing Center, Winnsboro, Louisiana. She was a member of The Pentecostals of the Twin Cities in West Monroe for 37 years until her health prevented her from attending. While at Plantation Manor she kept herself busy participating in many activities, but her favorite times were spent playing games. She loved BINGO, POKENO, and was an ace at playing cards. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Billie Ray Johnson, Jr.; sisters: Mildred Coleman, Lena Summerall, Carol Robinson and Jeannette Garry; and brothers: Willie Hart, John Hart, Jr., Dempsey Hart and Howard Hart.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 66 years, Billy Ray Johnson, Sr.; her son, Curtis Wayne Johnson; her favorite sister-in-law, Faye Hart; four grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Marty Hart, Larry Higdon, Jay Hart, Paul Carter, Dewayne Carter and Dub Simpson. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Hart, Whit Hart, Jack Coleman and Tommy Coleman.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Plantation Manor Nursing Center for the love and exceptional care they gave to Betty during her stay there.
