Floyd Edward Proffer, Jr.

Eddie Proffer, 55, of Kelly, stepped from this life onto streets of gold Sunday, July 16, 2017 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He has gained his reward and is now pain free. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Pine Grove Apostolic Church in Kelly, Louisiana with Rev. Johnny Barnhill and Bro. Heath Barnhill officiating. Interment will follow at Chickasaw Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday, July 18 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the church. 

Eddie was born October 28, 1962 to the union of Floyd Edward and Betty Proffer. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister- Marilyn "Sissy" Proffer and one brother- Andy Lee Proffer.

Eddie was a retired logger and an avid hunter. His greatest treasures in this life were God, his family and church.
He had a heart as big as he was and never met a stranger. To know Eddie was to love him and after talking with him you could say you left gaining a friend for life. These few words are not enough to say what Eddie meant or the imprint he left on our lives. He loved to share his stories and he didn't have a sad one to tell. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Even though it hurts, we know he is in a better place and couldn't wish him back for just one more day . 

Eddie is survived by his wife of 38 years, Tina Hatten Proffer; four daughters: Kasey Garrett and husband Glen, Kristie Proffer, Konni Shell and husband Justin, Kelley Proffer; one granddaughter: KaRissa Shell, one uncle who was also the greatest friend any boy could have: Truman Proffer and wife Betty, two sisters: LaWanda Proffer, Melissa Proffer and one brother: Darrell Proffer. 

Pallbearers: Heath Barnhill, Dustin Jones, Rick Hatten, Micheal Crain, LaVerl Shell, Micheal Hunter, Jerrod Douglas, and Don Dickey.

Honorary Pallbearers: Truman Proffer, Dennis Cruse, Justin Shell, Glen Garrett, James Barnhill, Bubba Barnhill and 
Cole Baum.
