Obituary of Joseph "Jody" Boyd

Funeral services for Joseph “Jody” Boyd, age 66, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Fellowship Baptist Church west of Columbia with Bro. Shane Duke officiating. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church.

Jody was born February 8, 1951 to the union of  J.T. and Vernice Boyd in Monroe and he passed from this life on July 19, 2017 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe after a lengthy battle with his heart.

He lived life to the fullest. He was a passionate farm hand and former truck driver for Rowland Bros. since he was 13 years old. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Betty Jo Boyd; his parents; two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years: Elvia Boyd; son: Jimmie Boyd of Monroe; daughter: Francis Cavazos and fiance Wade Knight of Columbia; brothers: John Thomas Boyd, Jr. and his wife Peggy; David Boyd; Troy Boyd and his wife Maria; C.H. Boyd and his wife Debbie; grandchildren: Brittany Forbis and friend Jesse Leavins; Bradley Forbis and fiance Whitney Berry; Matt Knight and fiance Amber Perot; Coltin Knight; Lucas Scroggs Lasiter; great-grandchildren: Kyson Knight and Rayleigh Knight; several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be Brian Boyd, Brandon Boyd, Joey Boyd, Troy Boyd, Jr., Andrew Boyd, Jamie Boyd, and Michael Boyd.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Charlie Mac Rowland, Dennis Rowland, Jason Broussard, Tom Calloway, Melvin Gray, and Shane Johnston.
