Obituary of Asilee Randall

Asilee “Lee” Tally Randall
November 13, 1930 – July 29, 2017
Asilee “Lee” Tally Randall passed away quietly early Saturday morning with her elder son, Dana Tally, by her bedside at Hardtner Medical Center. She was a long-term survivor of breast cancer, which she fought with a matter-of-fact determination and purpose.
Lee was born Asilee Hipps in Asheville, NC in 1930 and moved to Fresno, CA when she was 4 years old. She always loved the summers she spent in the Sierras where her father worked in the sawmill. This sparked a life-long love of the mountain pine forests. She met her husband, George Tally, in Fresno and his job as an engineer for Hughes Aircraft Company took the young family from Maine to Florida, Missouri to Montana, New York to California, where they settled in Los Angeles to raise their two sons, Dana and Doug. The Tally family vacations would once again find Lee back in the mountains camping and hiking the streams and trails of the Sierra Nevada and Rocky Mountains. George Tally passed away in 1976. They were married for nearly 25 years. When her two boys were finishing up their school days, Lee stepped back into the workforce as admissions office manager for Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
Lee met Bill Randall from Santa Barbara while they were both on a trip to the Holy Land. They married in 1977 and soon moved back to the mountains in Mt. Shasta, CA. After several years in the shadow of Shasta, business opportunities led them to Arizona, Tennessee, and Texas. In 1987, Bill and Lee moved to Bill’s home town of Olla where they lived for many years surrounded by a thick forest of Louisiana pine. Bill passed away soon after they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Lee remained in their Olla home with the invaluable assistance of her great friend, Marty Jinks.
Lee was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Olla, where she taught the senior Sunday School class for many years. She loved the movies that were popular in her childhood and young adulthood, and enjoyed family movie nights with home-made popcorn throughout her life. Her favorite movie star was Elizabeth Taylor, and she devoured every book and magazine about old Hollywood that she could get her hands on.
Lee is survived by two sons and two granddaughters: Dana Tally and his wife, Marsha, of Mountain Springs, TX and his two daughters, April and Danae, both living in the Dallas area. Her younger son, Doug Tally and his wife, Chris Wood, reside in Salinas, CA. Reflecting on her accomplishments in life, she said on many occasions that she was most proud of her two sons.
A memorial to celebrate Lee’s life will be held 10:00 AM Friday August 4, 2017 from the Olla chapel of Riser Funeral Home. Arrangements are being handled by Riser Funeral Homes.
