Obituary of Elmer Davis Palmer, Sr.

Funeral services for Elmer Davis Palmer, Sr., age 76 will be held at 2:00 Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia, Louisiana with Bro. Shane Duke officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday, August 12 from 5 PM until 8 PM.

Elmer Palmer was born May, 24, 1941 in Enterprise, Louisiana to the union of his parents, Oscar Leonard and Geneva Leggett Palmer. He passed from this life on August 9, 2017 at University Health, Shreveport, Louisiana. Elmer loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a commercial fisherman but he didn't just fish for a living, he fished for fun too. Regardless of what he was doing you could always find him with his faithful pup, Misty at his side. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Donnie Davis Palmer; daughter, Lisa Palmer; brother, Leonard Marvin Palmer and best friend, Duey Baum.

He is survived by his fiance', Martha Hill; sons: Elmer Davis Palmer, Jr., Leonard Wayne Palmer and John David Palmer; daughters: Susie Little, Lynn Ferris and Andy Palmer; a brother, Wren Palmer; sisters: Bonnie Gresham and Rose Cockerham; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dusty Munholland, Walter Simmons, Troy Bates, Kody Bates, Chris Palmer, Trey Franks and Bill Bridwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Cockerham and Buck Stewart.
