Obituary of Vernon B. "Buddy" Harris

Funeral services for Vernon B. “Buddy” Harris, age 90, of Olla will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, August 12,  2017 at Olla First Baptist Church with Bro. Johnnie Phillips and Bro. Greg Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Olla Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 PM until service time at the church. Services are under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla.

“Buddy” was born September 17, 1926 to the union of Patrick and Olene Smith Harris of Olla. He passed from this life on August 9, 2017 at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania.

He served his country in the Navy for 4 years. He was a longtime member of Olla First Baptist Church. He was an entrepreneur of a retail store in Olla. He loved to travel  and had visited every state. He was preceded in death by his wife: E. Marie Harris; his parents; grandson, Nick Harris; and sister, Nellie Ruth Harris.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Harris and his wife, Suzanne of Olla; daughter, Vicki Rawski of Clinton, IL; grandchildren: Rochelle Moore, her husband, Stephen and their son, Matthew; Michael B. Rawski and his wife, Katrina and their daughter, Addesyn; Summer Pruett and her husband, Anthony and their daughter, Kealie.

Pallbearers will be Chris Harris, Mark Lindloff, Nathan Lindloff, Steve Long, Randy McCarty, and Mike Gilliam.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Smith Hopkins, Bobby McCartney, Bobby Harter, Al Spence, Bobby Stott, and Alvis Randall.
