Obituary of Mrs. Doris Rice McIlwain

Private graveside services for Mrs. Doris Rice McIlwain, age 91 were held Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Sardis Cemetery, Atlanta, La., with Rev. Danny Keyes, Rev. John Holland and Tommy Clack officiating.

Mrs. Doris passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home, Winnfield LA.  She was a charter member of Columbia Heights Baptist Church for 64 years and a faithful servant to her church and God. She worked as a cashier until the age of 85 at a local grocery store.  She loved bird watching with her daughter, ice cream, all LSU sports and her beloved Lady Techsters.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Voyd and Mae Barton Rice; Husband G.W. McIlwain, Sr.; Son G.W. “Bill” McIlwain, Jr. ; Daughter Melinda Gayle Brown; Grandson Brandon McIlwain; Sisters Vaudine Smith and Betty Myers and Brother Rex Rice.

Survivors include her sister, Gloria Hickey of Winnfield; brother Roland Rice of Thayne, Wyoming; several Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and close friends Chuck, Kathy and Tommy Clack.
