Obituary of Betty Lee McGuffee
Funeral services for Betty Lee McGuffee age 84 of Columbia will be held 2:00 PM Friday December 15, 2017 from the sanctuary of Sandy Bayou Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Russell, Bro. J. R. Wells, Bro. Sammy Redden and Sammy Redden, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the McGuffee Family Plot at Rosefield Cemetery at Rosefield under the direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM on Thursday December 14, 2017 at the church located at 4803 Highway 559, east of Columbia.
Betty Lee Johnson McGuffee was born on February 26, 1933 at Mt. Carmel, Wabash County, Illinois to the union of her parents Harvey Edgar Johnson and Minnie Lee Melton Johnson and she passed from this life on December 11, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness surrounded by her loving family. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an avid reader enjoying visits to the Caldwell Parish Library. She was an active member of Sandy Bayou Baptist Church serving many years as choir director and director of the Puppeteers for Jesus Ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Merrell Delane McGuffee, grandson Phillip Allen Powell, son-in-law Tommy Lee beckley and sister-in-law Sylvia Gathright and brother-in-law Herbert Gathright.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories her daughters Delanea Beckley of Columbia and Anita Powell and husband Phillip of Sterlington, sons Glendon McGuffee and wife Ellie of West Monroe, Leland McGuffee of Columbia, granddaughter Andrea Dailey and husband Stuart of Sterlington, grandson Tyler Powell of Kerrville, Texas, great-grandsons Taylor Scribner and Drake Dailey of Sterlington, brother-in-law Doyce McGuffee and wife Linda of Chatham, sister-in-law Gloria Fuqua and husband Don of Baker and special pet dog “Pretty Boy”.
Serving as pallbearers will be Stuart Daily, Taylor Scribner, Todd McGuffee, Tyler Powell, Tim McGuffee and Kevin Gathright.
