Obituary of Karen Smith Brown
Funeral services for Karen Smith Brown age 60 of Tullos will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday January 16, 2018 from the sanctuary of Tullos First Baptist Church in Tullos. Interment will follow in the Urania Cemetery under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Olla. The Brown Family will receive visitors on Monday January 15, 2018 at the church from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Karen Smith Brown was born on September 12, 1957 to the union of her parents Earl Smith and Ethel Mae Walker Smith and passed from this life to life anew on January 13, 2018 at the Christus St. Patricks Medical Center in Lake Charles following a brief illness. Karen was preceded in death by her parents and by five brothers Dalton Davidson, Wayne Smith, Gerald Smith, Jerry Smith and G.H. Smith. Karen was a member of Tullos First Baptist Church, and had recently retired from the LaSalle Parish School System where she was a cafeteria lady at LaSalle Junior High School. She was blessed with a wonderful family and her husband, grand kids and her siblings played a huge role in her life. Karen was a very nurturing person and was loved by all. She loved working in her yard, she loved her Route 44 diet Cokes from Sonic with vanilla and she loved to shop. Her legacy that she leaves behind is one of abundant love, faith and good will to her family and friends alike. To know Karen was to love her and she will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories is her husband Ronald “Charlie” Brown of Tullos, her son Chad Brown and wife Ashley of Olla, her daughter Kristen Brown and significant other David Chandler of Pineville, her brother Lester Smith and his wife Susan of Tullos, three Sisters: Nelda Lasiter, Kelly, LA; Pam Mauterer and husband K.P. Of Olla and Annette Wilson and husband Gary of Urania, and her beloved grandchildren Cameron, Caleb, Becca, Caiden, Zoey, Tucker, Devon, Kaleigh and Kynslee.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Smith, Jeffery Wilson, Bill Smith, Tom Smith, Jimmy Morrison, Steven Smith, and Tucker Chandler. Dustin Rogers will serve as honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Tullos, Louisiana.
