Obituary of J. M. Duplissey, Jr.
Funeral services for J. M. Duplissey, Jr. of Columbia will be held 11:00 AM Friday February 2, 2018 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Maxwell and Bro. Don Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
J.M. Duplissey, Jr. was born on March 12, 1926 in Columbia to the union of his parents Jerry Mire Duplissey, Sr. and Inez Furlow Duplissey and he passed from this life on January 31, 2018 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lorraine and his beloved first granddaughter Beth Durham. He was retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and farmed for many years after his retirement, and was a member of the Columbia Heights Baptist Church. He was an avid sportsman and loved sports of all kinds.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of sixty years Ruby Shopher Duplissey, his daughters: Sandy Duplissey and Rhonda Jones and husband Rusty; his grandchildren: Andy Jones and wife Christy, Kate Durham, Kelli Jones and his great grandchildren, Emma Hardin Jones and Frances Jones.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Borth, David Barfield, Don Davis,Mike Pollard, Drew Keahey and Clay Bennett. Honoray pallbearers include members of his sunday school class and Breakfast Club members.
