Obituary of Dannie Lee Ostrum

Funeral services for Dannie Lee Ostrum, age 69 of Columbia will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Shane Duke and Bro. Rick Crandall officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson. Visitation will be on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the funeral home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Dannie Lee Ostrum was born on June 18, 1948 to the union of Edwin and Alice Ostrum in Adrian, Mississippi and he passed from this life on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness. After high school, Dannie joined the United States Navy where he proudly served for sixteen years, four of which was in Vietnam. After his military career he worked at numerous odd jobs until he was hired by the U.S. Corp of Engineers where he worked until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws,Woodrow and Lucille Williams and Mitchell and Barbara Brown; sister, Margie Jo Ostrum; brother Randy Ostrum; brothers-in-law: David Murphy and Tom Williams, and sister-in-law, Marilyn St. Clair Brown.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memories is his wife of 32 years, Marilyn Brown Ostrum; children: Edwin Ostrum (Amy) of Akron,Ohio, David Ostrum (Rita) Jacksonville, Florida, Melissa Millner (Joe) Houston, Texas; sisters: Carolyn Justice (Mark), Adrian, MI, Cindy Poll (Ray) of New Port Richey, Florida; brothers: Tim Ostrum (Carol) Magnolia, Mississippi, Jack Ostrum, Adrian, Mississippi; sisters-in-law: Shirley Laberdee (Chuck), Monroe, Michigan, Carolyn Williams, Toledo, Ohio, Melinda Stradley (Scott) Fairbanks, Ohio, Barbara Ostrum, Adrian, Michigan, Sheila Murphy, Columbia, LA and Ann Wallace (Steve) Abita Springs, LA; brothers-in-law: Sam Williams, Toledo, Ohio, Tommy Brown (Mary), Columbia, LA, Michael Brown (Debbie) Virginia Beach, Virginia, Donald Brown (Patricia) Toledo, Ohio, Gary Brown (Jackie) Waggamon, LA, and the mother of his children, Patricia Brown; eleven grandchildren; a host of special nieces and nephews and his precious baby, Foxy. Nephews will serve as pallbearers including Quincy Brown, Ryan Brown, Dewey Murphy, Robert Wallace, and Chris Wallace.

In lieu of flowers any planned memorials should be made to the American Cancer Society or any cancer charity of one's choice.
