Obituary of Donald Lee Harper

Funeral services for Donald Lee Harper will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 23, 2018 at Clarks Pentecostal Church, Clarks, Louisiana with Bro. Chris Gainous and Bro. Marlon Jarrell, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery, Clarks. The famiy will receive visitors on Thursday, February 22 from 5 PM to 9 PM at the church.

 

Donald Lee Harper was born December 15, 1939 in Kelly, Louisiana to the union of his parents, J.C. and Belle Harper and passed to his heavenly home on February 20, 2018 at Plantation Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winnsboro, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Jim Harper, Jerry Harper and Carroll Eugene Harper and sisters: Lena Robertson and Meriel Tarver. Donald was a jokester and always entertained his family and friends with his quick wit. He loved to tinker. He was able to fix or build anything and he passed his wisdom down to his sons and grandsons. He worked in the woods as a logger and loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Donald was a member of New Hope Apostolic Church.

 

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Patricia Jarrell Harper; his daughter, Patricia Diane "Sissy" Gainous and husband, Chris; sons: Carroll Eugene "Wop" Harper and wife, Rita and Christopher Lee "Jody" Harper; his sister, Claudette Palmer; grandchildren: Niki Harper Wyles, Sherry Sweet, Amy Hill, Johnathon Gainous and wife, Lauren (LJ), Jeremy Gainous, Justin Gainous, and James Gainous; great-grandchildren: Jude Wyles, Charlie Wyles, Daisy Love, Mary Love, Tessa Hill, Bella Hill and Jaxon Gainous; and special friends: Jason Carter, Bryan Johnston, Kyle Parker and Johnathon Broussard.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Marlon Jarrell, Sr., Carroll Eugene Harper, Jody Harper, Jeremy Gainous, James Gainous and Johnathon Gainous. Honorary pallbearers are Justin Gainous and Jaxon Gainous.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the family's name to Riser Funeral Home.
