Obituary of Leroy White

Mr. Leroy White was born November 9, 1939 and went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2018. He was born to the union of Mr. Mance White, Sr. and Mrs. Willie White.  Mr. White joined St. Joe Baptist Church at an early age. He was also a member of the Caldwell Parish Community Choir. He attended Kelly Training School and Union Central High School. He worked in the pulp wood business for many years.

Over the years, he has become a community icon. He was well-known and loved by everyone in the community. His favorite pastime was talking over the phone with family and friends. Everyone marveled at his ability to remember phone numbers. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Mance White, Sr. and Mrs. Willie White; seven sisters: Miss Katie White, Miss Kathena White, Miss Verdie White, Mrs. Rosa Lollie, Mrs. Geneva Preston, Mrs. Mary Wilson and Mrs. Julia Wooten; six brothers: Mr. John White, Mr. Roy White, Mr. Clayton White, Mr. Otis White, Mr. Mance White, Jr. and Mr. Allen White. He leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Mrs. Willie Treen Wooten of Sacremento, California and a host of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Alexander, Kofi Bieniemy, Sr., Kofi Bieniemy, Jr., Robert Coleman, Moran Davis, Jr., Kevin Martin, Robert Miles, Jr., John Preston, Jr., Henry Preston, Jr., Roy White, Jr., James White, Jr., Jermaine White and Kevin Wooten. Honorary pallbearers include Benny Lollie, Andrew Preston, Jr., Billie Preston, Bobby Preston, Jr., Henry Preston, Sr., John Preston, Sr., Darryl White, Edward White, James White, Sr., Roy White, Sr., Clarence Wooten, Jr., Dell Wooten, Edgar Wooten, Ronald Wooten and Vincent Wooten.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 3, 2018 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Vernon Foy officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joe/St. Bethel Cemetery in Kelly. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
