Obituary of Gove Donathan Davis, JR

Gove “Don” Donathan Davis, Jr., 89 was born on August 6, 1928 and entered into eternal rest on April 20, 2018. He was born to Velda & Gove Davis in Urania, Louisiana. Don served honorably in the United States Army. He was a mechanic by trade and enjoyed gardening, cooking, flying, reading, working book puzzles and caring for his family. Anyone who knew Don knew how much everyone enjoyed his dumplings and sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gove & Velda Davis as well as his sisters: Libby and Peggy.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Kay (Pat) McIntyre, Peggy Davis (Larry Smith), Marty (Ronny) Clemons, Renee (Mike) Easterling and Lisa Dumesnil; grandchildren: David (Joyce) Keene, Jennifer (Mark) Cook, Daniel (Julie) Novak, Jessica Eastmon, Rachael Novak, Nicki (Keith) Sthram, Carly Clemons, Clay Nelson and Larysn Dumesnil; along with 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Riser Funeral Home in Olla, Louisiana. Viewing will be at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the chapel of the funeral home with the funeral service to follow at 11a.m., concluding with military honors at the Olla Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ronny Clemons, Dexter Evans, Pat McIntyre, Daniel Novak, Wendell Welch and Carl Whitehead.
