Obituary of Catherine Merlene Womack Franks

Funeral services for Catherine Merlene Womack Franks, age 84, a lifetime resident of Caldwell Parish, will held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 5, 2018 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia. Bro. Shane Duke of Cross Roads Baptist Church of Grayson will be officiating the service. She will be laid to rest at Old Union Cemetery west of Grayson. Visitation will be Thursday from 8:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Franks was born October 28, 1933 and went to be with the Lord July 2, 2018 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Fitzgerald, with whom she bore two sons, her parents, Elmer and Etta Womack, brothers, Earnest and Elmer Jr. Womack, her sister, Areece Womack Rea, a stepson, Nolan Franks and daughter-in-law, Ann Fitzgerald.

Survivors include her husband, John Franks of Grayson, two sons, Kenneth “Pee Wee” Fitzgerald of Grayson and Billy Fitzgerald of Columbia, stepson, Warren Franks and wife Kay of South Carolina, a step-daughter, Alice Webb of Winnfield, and many nieces and nephews and a handful of grandchildren.

 Pallbearers will be John McLendon, James Rea, Don Rea, Steve Risher, Carl Dunn, and James Adcock.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Warren Keith Franks.
