Obituary of Julia Mae "Granny" Powell

Funeral services for Julia Mae “Granny” Powell, age 90, of Rosefield, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Rosefield Baptist Church with Bro. Bubba Tucker and Bro. Ricky Gresham officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00PM until 8:00 PM at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia and Saturday from 1:00 PM until time of service at the church.

Julia was born August 17, 1927 to the union of A.J. Ainsworth, Sr., and Julia Currington Ainsworth in Rosefield and she passed from this life on July 12, 2018 at Ouachita Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Monroe.

She was a member of Rosefield Baptist Church. She was a great cook and loved her family very much. She was always a joy to be around. She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Powell; her parents; brother, A.J. “Pete” Ainsworth, Jr.; sister, Berta Faye Esters; grandsons: Phillip Allen Powell and Joshua Robert Powell.

She is survived by her sons: James W. Powell and his wife, Cheryl, Jonathan A. Powell and his wife, Noreen, Phillip A. Powell and his wife, Anita, Roger T. Powell and his wife, Lynn; grandchildren: Jason Powell, Jennifer Powell, Sheranne Powell-Hoffpauir, Jennifer Powell, Tyler Powell, Jessica Frizzell, and Damion Powell;  her sister: Edith Kelley of Olla  and her brother :David J. Ainsworth of Ferriday, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Powell, Phillip Powell, Todd Frizzell, Tyler Powell, Damion Powell, and Todd Ainsworth.
