Obituary of George Andrew Duncan
George Andrew Duncan, known by family and friends as “John. L.” was born in Natchez, MS on November 24th, 1942 to James Duncan and Lettie Jones Duncan. He passed on to be with his Lord and Savior on July 20, 2018 at his residence with his family by his side.
He worked on the river for many years as a tugboat Captain. After he retired from the river, he worked the ferry at St. Joe and Duty Ferry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Roy, two grandchildren, Joe and Hunter Ade Fincher, granddaughter-in-law, Kylie King Duncan, and great-granddaughter, Lainey Rae-Lynn Duncan.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Gaynell Lafferty Duncan, sons, John Wayne Duncan, George A. Duncan, Jr. and his wife Lanna, daughters, Sharon “Susie” Fincher and her husband Joe, and Margie Ferguson and her husband Jimmy, grandchildren, Johnathon Duncan, Dakota Duncan Smith, Ethan Duncan, Landon Fincher, Jimmy Ferguson, Jr., Kelcey Ferguson, and Nickey Hixson, great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Jayden Smith, Eli, Aleigha and Preslee Duncan, Kaylee Layne, Emma Faye, and Jimmy Farrell Ferguson, III, Michael and Gabe Hixson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday July 23, 2018 at Hebert Full Gospel, 75 Sullivan Acres Hebert, LA 71418. Sister Kristy Dunn will bring the message and Bro. Marvin Tabora will read the eulogy. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church.
Pallbearers will be Michael Spratt, Tony Duncan, Ethan Duncan, Dustin Duncan, Landon Fincher, and Bradley Spratt.
