Obituary of Nellie Ruth Winter

Funeral services for Nellie Ruth Parker Winter of Grayson  will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia, Louisiana with Rev. Jack McKeithen officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson. The family will receive visitors on Friday, August 3 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nell was born May 28, 1939 to the union of William and Verlie Parker Dortlone in Clarks, Louisiana and she passed from this life on August 2, 2018 at home peacefully with her daughter and husband at her side.

She was a lifetime member of Grayson Baptist Church. She was a childcare giver for many years and loved taking care of all those babies and they loved her dearly. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who worried about everybody. Nell was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Hazel May Brown; brother, John "Bucky" Dartlone; daughter, Wanda Nell Chapman; niece, Judy Ratcliff Thornton and nephew, Thurman May.

Nell is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wyman Winter of Grayson; daughter, Rhonda Chapman Ford of Pollock; sister, Johnnie Ratcliff of Clarks; grandchildren: Eric Olden, Alyssa and Richard Ford; great-grandchild, Addison Olden; nieces and nephews: Diane Legg, Ricky Ratcliff and Pamela Gayle; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and countless friends and loved ones.

Pallbearers will be Lance Legg, Mike Nappier, Jeremy Carter, Ricky Ratcliff, Drew Frazier and James Knighten. Honorary pallbearers are William Ford and Ricky Gayle.
