Obituary of Matthew Evan "Matt" Silvie

Funeral services for Matthew Evan “Matt” Silvie, age 52 of Grayson, will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Campti. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia.

Matt was born November 26, 1965 in Shreveport to the union of his parents Hazel Marie and Joseph Calvin Silvie. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Mark Silvie; mother-in-law: Janet Nichols; step-daughter: Heather Skoglund.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Karen Silvie of Michigan; sister: Ann Norton (Jerry) of Grayson; daughters: Amber Silvie (Jeffery) of Grayson; Caitlin Silvie (Justin) of Mississippi; step daughters: Jenny Hansen (Pete) of Michigan; April Skoglund of Michigan; His pride and joy which are his grandkids: Eli and Ellie Young of Grayson, Taryn, Ciara, and Sadie Danati, Kiya Vissar, Hanna and Jax Hansen, and Zander Buck of Michigan; brother-in-law: Mike Nichols of Michigan;  nieces and nephews: Cristian (Jeffery) LeJeune, Joseph (Jennifer) Wyant, Thomas (Joni) Wyant, Lacey Norton, Marcus “Claeb” (Alicia) Silvie, Bethany (Chris) Moses,  Livia Silvie of Grayson, LA, and 9 great nieces and nephews.

Matt was a hardworking, loving, and sarcastic man who was always out to make someone laugh with his stories. He grew up in Grayson, Louisiana then he spent a majority of his life traveling the country as Party Chief of a surveying crew. When he wasn’t working, he loved spending time with his family. He was a very giving and loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. The way you knew how much he cared about you was by how much he picked with you.

Pallbearers will be Claeb Silvie, John Spires, Gene Smith, Donald Smith, Ed Smith, and Ronnie Morgan.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Norton, Thomas Wyant, Jeffery Young, Jerry Brown, Joseph Wyant, and Chris Moses.
