Obituary of Charlotte Holmes Smith

Funeral services for Charlotte Holmes Smith, age 76 of Columbia will be held 10:00 AM Monday, August 20,2018 from the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church in Columbia under the direction of Rev. Stephen Fife, Rev. Pamela Roy and Rev. Ben McGehee. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Charlotte passed away peacefully Thursday, August 16, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was born June 21, 1942 to Mr. and Mrs. John L. Holmes of Winnfield, La.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 yrs., Perry H. Smith. She is survived by one son, George H. Smith and his wife, Beverly Smith of Magnolia, Texas along with one grandson, Matthew Smith as well as a brother Shove Holmes and his wife, Jimmie Holmes of Shreveport.

Charlotte was a graduate of NLU and was a retired school teacher of 30 plus years with the last several years teaching in the Caldwell Parish school system. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, she was also actively involved with her church, First United Methodist Church of Columbia. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
