Obituary of Horace Wayne Rogers

Funeral services for Horace W. Rogers age 83 of Grayson will be held 1:00 pm Saturday October 20, 2018 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Crandell officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery west of Grayson, LA. Visitation will be on Saturday October 20, 2018 at the funeral home from 11:00 am until time of service.

Horace Wayne Rogers was born on March 18, 1935 at Columbia to the union of his parents James Thaddeous Rogers and Kathleen Lutrick Rogers and passed from this life on Tuesday October 16, 2018 at the Plantation Oaks Nursing Center in Wisner following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife of sixty one years, Mrs. Iris Rogers, and two brothers James Rogers and Edge Rogers. Horace worked as a construction superintendent and traveled in several countries including Egypt, Nigeria, Haiti and worked in numerous states in the United States. He was a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge for fifty years and worked in the Shriners. To know Horace was to love and respect him. He always had a great smile and he was an absolute pleasure to be around and would brighten the day of anyone he came in contact with. He loved fishing , his family and LSU football.

Left to cherish his memory are his son: Ronnie Rogers and wife Mary Jane; two grandsons: Lucas Rogers and Thomas Rogers and wife Elizabeth and a great-grandson: Ethan Rogers; his sister: Margie Tomalewicz and her husband Jack. and his brother: Dwight Rogers and wife Sharon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lucas Rogers, Thomas Rogers, Randy Hatten, Ricky Hatten, Ronnie Hatten and Sam Sanders
