Obituary of Vernon Bernelle Sanders

Graveside funeral services for Vernon B. Sanders age 71 of Columbia will be held 10:00 AM Friday January 18, 2019 at the Fellowship Cemetery west of Columbia with Rev. Mark Dannehl officiating. Interment will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be at the cemetery from 9:30 AM until time of service.

Vernon B. Sanders was born on July 7, 1947 at Meridian, Mississippi to the union of his parents Vernon Elbe Sanders and Odessa Church Sanders and he passed from this life on January 15, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness. Vernon was a member of the Bellview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge. He loved to play his guitar and sing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Pam Richmond Sanders of Columbia; four sons: Bryon Sanders of Columbia, Travis Sanders of Dry Prong, LA, Sam Sanders and his wife, Amber of Columbia and Recee Sanders of Columbia; his brother: Jake Sanders and his wife, Sugar of Grayson; half sister: Donna Beatty of Polaski, Mississippi; his grandchildren: Layla, Taylor, Aaron, McKenzie, Eli, Dakota, Blake, Carson, Bentlee, Maureen and Josiah and eight great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eli Sanders, Dakota Sanders, Blake Sanders, Aaron Sanders, Bryon Sanders, Travis Sanders, Sam Sanders and Recee Sanders

In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital..
