Obituary of Jasper W. Boggan, Jr

Funeral services for Jasper W.“Jay” Boggan age 89 of Columbia will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday January 29, 2019 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Crandall officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson. Friends may call on Tuesday January 29, 2018 at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM.

Jasper Wayne Boggan was born on June 6, 1929 at Mendenhall, Mississippi to the union of his beloved parents ; Jasper Wayne Boggan, Sr and Lynn Sanford Boggan and passed from this life, to life a new on Friday January 25, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness. Known by everyone as Jay, he served in the United States Marines and was a truck driver traveling all over the United States. He also served as a bus driver in the Caldwell Parish School System. Jay was an active member of Grayson Baptist Church as long as his health would allow. He was preceded in death by two wives, three sons: Raymond, Jeff and Joel Boggan and by a great-granddaughter Cailin Breland. Jay was blessed with an ability to dance and loved it deeply. To know Jay was to love him. He will be missed by all who were blessed to call him friend.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are his daughter: Julia Boggan Smith and wife Teresa of West Monroe; his extended family: James and Melissa Palmer and April and Adam Palmer and Katie Jones all of Columbia; his brother: Jack Boggan of West Monroe; his sisters: Virginia Cruse of Grayson and Francine Connerly of Jackson, Mississippi; two granddaughters and five grandsons; five great granddaughters and and two great grand sons.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wes Cruse, Joe Kvaternick, Adam Palmer, Brandon Brown, Billy Stover, Jason Carley and Jamey Boggan. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Parker, Howard Floyd, Jerry Meredith, James Palmer, Calvin Wooten, Chuck Cruse and Dana Cruse.

In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to the Grayson Baptist Church, Grayson, LA.
