Obituary of Floyd Canterberry

Funeral services for Mr. Floyd Canterberry, age 83 of Grayson, LA will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 8, 2019 from the sanctuary of Holum Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Prince officiating. Rev. Lemuel Baugh will conduct the graveside committal services, which are under the direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Floyd Canterberry was born on September 1, 1935 at Marion, LA to the union of his parents, Webster Ray Golsby, Sr. and Arty Bell Canterberry and passed from this life on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness.

Floyd was a veteran of the United States Army and had served as music director at the Holum Baptist Church for over fifty years. He also served the church as a deacon. Mr. Canterberry was preceded in death by his son, Alan Dewayne Canterberry, Sr., his father and mother, his brother, W. R. Golsby, Jr. and his sister, Sandra Elaine Landrum. Although Floyd was a master of all trades he retired with Flint Ink Company in West Monroe. Floyd not only served his country but served his community as he was always there to help anyone in need. To his family and friends alike he will be missed greatly but never, ever forgotten.

Left to cherish and celebrate his life are his wife, Joyce Oliveaux Canterberry of Grayson; two daughters: Julie Darden (Rex) and Cynthia Esters (Mark) all of Grayson; his sons: Steven Canterberry (Jessica) of Grayson and Dewayne Canterberry (Amanda) of Gulfport, Mississippi; his brother, Johnnie Golsby of Livingston, Texas and three sisters: Virginia Garcia, Gloria Kanka and Shirley Copeland, thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Canterberry, Zachary Canterberry, Randall Graham, Terry Parker, Brandon Waller, Michael Forbes, Joe Bailey and Evan Turan.
