Obituary of William T. Cumpton
Funeral services for William T. Cumpton, age 84 of Hebert will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 17, 2019 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Glenn Lowery and Rev. David Sistrunk officiating. Interment will follow in the Woolen Lake Cemetery Woolen Lake Community, Hebert. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the funeral home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. and on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until time of service.
William Thomas Cumpton was born on May 14, 1934 at Rayville, LA to the union of his parents, Tom Wesley Cumpton and Ila Castella Brewer Cumpton and passed from this life on March 13, 2019 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, by three brothers: Lester, Roy and Jessie; by a baby daughter; his special friend, Larry Cumpton, Jr; his first wife, Mary Grace Hoggatt Cumpton and sister, Hazel Miller. He was a master carpenter and loved hunting and fishing. He played guitar and that ability to play meant so very much to him. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend and his family meant the world to him.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Karen Cumpton of Hebert; his son, Tommy Cumpton (Cheri); his daughter, Susie Nielson (Lee); his step-daughter, Christy Uehling; two step-sons: Shane Uehling (Dawn) and Cody Uehling (Christal) and his beloved dog, Patches that he called Hickory Nut, his brothers:Gene Cumpton(Melba), Freddie Cumpton(Beth) and his sister:Irma Borden(Lavelle) and a host of nieces and nephews. His legacy includes five granchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Uehling, Scott Porter, Dewey Murphy, Chris Uehling, Jacob Butler, James Brady, Jr, James Boudreaux, Michael Boudreaux, Jayden Brady, Ben Adcock, Ricky Stamey, Lee Nielson and Keith Stamey.
