Obituary of Philip "Skeeter" Brockner

Memorial Services for Philip “Skeeter” Brockner, age 58 of Monroe, will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday, March 22, 2019 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia.  Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Philip was born June 27, 1960 to the union of Wayne and Doris Echols Brockner in Winnie, TX  and he passed from this life on March 12, 2019 at Oschner  LSU Health in Shreveport due to complications of heart disease.

He was a Barge Engineer for many years in numerous places including The Gulf of Mexico, Thailand, Brazil, Surinam, Israel, and Malta.  His crew called him Captain.  He kept candies in his pocket for them and took pride in keeping them safe.  He was also an Entrepreneur at heart and was always looking for a new opportunity. Philip had a special bond with his grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Pappy." He loved spending time with them.  His heart was big and he was a loyal friend to many. Philip was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Ken Brockner and Paul Brockner.

He is survived by his children:  Sunny Ferguson and her husband Tony, Peigen Drummond and her Fiance Shannon Sarver, Philip Drummond and his wife Krista; his grandchildren: Hattie, Audrey, and Annie Jo; his brother, Homer Brockner and numerous nieces and nephews.
