Obituary of Burl Lively
Funeral services for Burl Lively, age 85 of Jena will be at 10 AM Tuesday, April 2, 2019 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia with Rev. Denver McBroom officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 PM until 8 PM Monday, April 1, 2019 at the funeral home.
Burl Lively was born in Columbia on December 3, 1933 to the union of his parents, Claudius Davenport Lively and Katie Mae Harveston Lively and he passed from this life on March 31, 2019 in Jena, Louisiana after a lengthy illness. Burl was preceded in death by his parents; son, Burl "Poncho" Lively; sister, Mary Lynde and brother, Claude Lively. He retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation. He loved riding horses and working cows. He also enjoyed farming and was happiest when driving a tractor or combine. He had a big heart and was loved by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters: Annie Chapman of Columbia and Myrtle McBroom (Denver) of Olla; brother, Dale "Snap" Lively of Nauvoo, Alabama and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Duplissey, Buster Duplissey, Brett Duplissey, Derrek Duplissey, Coty Ingle and Clay Bennett. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Duplissey, Kirby Chapman and Alton Chapman.
