Obituary of Linda Jo Jeane Esters
Funeral services for Linda Jo Jeane Esters, age 80, of Columbia will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday June 18, 2019 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Dottie Smith officiating. Phillip Thomas will deliver the eulogy with Aleigh Coates offering a reading. Ministry in song will be delivered by Candice Bassett.Visitation will be on Monday June 17, 2019 at the funeral home located at 7131 U S Highway 165, Columbia; from 5:00 PM to 8:00PM and 9:00 am until service time Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Adams Cemetery at Kelly. Linda was born on October 9, 1938 at Urania, LA and passed from this life on Saturday June 15, 2019 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia surrounded by her loving family. Linda was preceded in death by her mother Lora Ethel Barker and her father Gossett Galveston Jeane; her step-mother: Agnes Jeane; her sisters: Stella, Tommie, Billie and Greta; her grandson: Logan Randall; and a dear, special friend George Wagner . Mrs. Esters was retired from Atmos Energy after thirty two years of service. She also worked for Lawson and Lawson as a cook on a tugboat for three years. She volunteered at the Martin Homeplace in Columbia for four years. She graduated LaSalle High School in 1956 and was a member of the Grayson Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Linda loved sitting on her back porch, tending flowers, and loved her family immensely. She nurtured and fed anyone who would let her. She will truly be missed by family and friends alike.
She leaves behind two children: son, Chuck Esters and daughter: Sharla Coates both of Columbia; her grandchildren:: Marlynn (Eric) Creel of Jena;, Kristen Esters and Kathryn (Marcus) Meche both of Cleveland, Texas, Cutler (Britany) Thompson of Jena, Aleigh Coates of Columbia, her sister: Marlene Hatten of Grayson and her brotherThomas "Sonny" Gossett of Shreveport, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Linda and family would like to thank Pilots for Patients and Phillip Thomas for the prayers and compassion shown to our family during the many, many trips back and forth to appointments in Houston. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to the Pilots for Patients, 3127 Mercedes Drive, Monroe, LA 71201.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Creel, Stuart Creel, Marcus Meche, Cutler Thompson, Tyler Perot, Eddie Whitten, Kristen L. Esters and Steve Pennington. Honorary pallbearers include great-gransons: Logan Thompson,Lucas Meche, Mason Meche and her great-great grandson: Finnick Creel.
And so in leaving this world we will use her signoff she would use at the end of her days with Cleco, "KKV343 OUT".
