Obituary of Judy Lynn Newsom

Funeral services for Judith Lynn Newsom, age 63 of Tullos will be held 10:00 AM Monday June 24, 2019 from the sanctuary of Springhill Baptist Church, Kelly with Rev. Elvis Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Newsom Family Cemetery under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM.Judith Lynn Powell Newsom was born on March 27, 1956 at Columbia, LA to the union of Gene Riley Powell and Lillian Taylor Powell and she passed from this life on June 19, 2019 at her residence in Tullos following a brave yet lengthy battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edwin Newsom on February 24,,2019. She attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of the La Salle Parish School System.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: John Newsom and wife, Monica of Tullos and Crystal Newsom of Tullos; two granddaughters: Zoe Newsom and Ryleigh Newsom; and her brother, Mark Powell and wife, Suzanne of Wichita Falls, TX.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Hill, Roy Nugent, Jeremy Nugent, Josh Carroll, Lester Bergeron, Jake Powell, Nathan Perot and Pat Soupa.
