Obituary of Colleen Wilks

Funeral services for Colleen Maxwell Wilks age 90 of Hebert will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday July 3, 2019 from the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Rankin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with services entrusted to Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday July 2, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Georgia Colleen Maxwell Wilks was born on August 27, 1928 in Caldwell Parish to her parents Lawrence L. Maxwell and Jewel Kelly Maxwell and she passed from this life on Monday July 1, 2019 at the Charlyn Nursing Center in Winnsboro following an extended illness.

Colleen was a sailors wife for thirty years and followed her husband all over the world and all over the United States as he served in the United States Navy. Colleen was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her son: Kenny Wilks, by a baby daughter: Kristina Wilks and by her grandson: Jonathan James Wilks. She was one of nine children and was the last one of her immediate family.

Left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory is her husband of seventy years: James L. Wilks (United States Navy-retired) of Hebert; her son: Jimmy Wilks (Linda) of Hebert and her daughter: Jamie Wilks of Hebert; her precious grandchildren: Kristina Kelone, Jessica Wilks, Chris Wilks, Amanda Boyette, Sarah Baxter, Samantha Wilks (Bobby Perot) and Chance Flores and ten great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Duane Wilks, Bill Griffin, Chance Flores, Bobby Perot, Johnny Brandon and Chris Wilks. Honorary pallbearers include Kenny Wilks, Ricky Ratcliff and Lavelle Dollar.
