Obituary of Grace Hill Fletcher Franklin Harris

Funeral services for Grace Hill Franklin Harris age 94 of Olla will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday July 17, 2019 from the Olla chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with nephew Rev. Ronnie Hagan officiating. Eulogy will be delivered by niece Barbara T. Gregory and nephew Tommy Hill Hodges will minister through song. Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery at Clarks. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:30 AM until time of service at the funeral home.

Grace Hill Fletcher Franklin Harris was born on October 9, 1924 at Kelly, LA to the union of her parents Louis Tandy Fletcher and Lillie Letisha Gore Fletcher and she passed away peacefully at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia on July 15, 2019 following a rather brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents and by two husbands: Woodrow Franklin and J.E. Harris, Jr. and her step-son: David Harris. Grace was the last of eleven siblings to pass away having been preceded by Hardy Hodges, Sam Hodges, Gore Hodges, Ethel Nethery, Eva Brooks, Voncil Taliferro, Merle Norvell, L. T. Fletcher, R.L. Fletcher and John Hodges. In her later years Grace worked at the LaSalle Parish Library in Olla three days a week and loved her work and the interaction with people. Her last day of work at the library was on April 30th of this year which is an amazing feat for someone 94 years old. Grace was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Family was the love of her life and she cooked often and served up love and compassion with every meal she made. Needless to say she was a wonderful cook. The void left by Grace's passing will never be filled.

Left to cherish her long life and all of the memories are her sons: Dale Brown (Mary Ellen) of Youngstown, Florida, Tony Franklin( Hilda) of Olla and Billy Wayne Norvell (Jewell) of Pleasant Hill, MO; step-daughter: Nancy Volentine (Butch) of Plaucheville, LA; special niece: Barbara Gregory (Bob) of Kelly and a host of nieces and nephews; her grandchildren: Michael Brown (Leslie) of Panama City, FL, Melissa Hagan (Ronnie) Panama City, FL; Lorie Franklin of Olla and Najla Windham (Kevin) Trout, LA; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Serving as pallbearers will be Noah Windham, Hunter Windham, Dylan Windham, Casey Fletcher, Ky Fletcher and Mitch Hyman.

The family requests that any planned memorials be made to the Old Bethel Cemetery Association, Clarks, LA.
