Obituary of Verdell Seay Coie

Verdell Seay Coie, age 78, died on July 20, 2019 at Ouachita Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was born in Columbia, Louisiana on September 26, 1940 to Wade and Mattie Seay.  

Verdell graduated in 1958 from Caldwell Parish High School. She then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. She returned to Louisiana in 1967. She attended Louisiana Business College and Northeast Louisiana University. Verdell worked for the Caldwell Parish Clerk of Court's office for many years.

Verdell is survived by her children, Tracie (Frank) Fowler, Dennis Coie and Mark (Gwen) Coie. Her grandchildren: Kelli Fowler, Travis Roy Coie, Shelby Coie, Hayden Coie, Reid Alan Coie and Haylee Coie, her brother Harry Seay and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Wade and Mattie Seay, her twin brother, Ardell Seay, sisters: Doris Taylor, Carolyn Coon and Martha Elmendorf and brothers: Robert Seay and Samuel Seay.

 Verdell loved the Lord her God with all her heart, soul and mind. She dedicated her life to loving her neighbor and served the church faithfully for many, many years and she has now gone to see “her” Jesus.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM, Monday July 22 at Living Way Apostolic Church, Hwy 4 East, Columbia with Bro. Nathan Thornton officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM, Sunday, July 21 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia and Monday at the church from 9 AM until service time.

Serving as pallbearers will be Hayden Coie, Reid Alan Coie, Travis Coie, Mark Joiner, John Wade Taylor and Howard Seay.
