Obituary of Johnnie Everett Haddox

Funeral services for Johnnie Everett Haddox, age 93 of Columbia will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 136 Fellowship Rd, Columbia, LA with Bro. Brian Rankin and Danny Warner officiating. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia. The visitation will be held in the fellowship hall of the church from 5 PM until 8 PM, Monday, August 5 and in the church sanctuary on Tuesday from noon until service time.

 

Johnnie Everett Haddox was born April 23, 1926 in Columbia to the union of his parents, James Barvle Haddox and Katie Belle Kelley Haddox and he passed from this life to his heavenly home on August 4, 2019 at Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. Mr. Haddox served his country in the Army during World War II. He worked for the Louisiana Department of Transportation for many years until his retirement. Johnnie was a devoted member of Fellowship Baptist Church until his health prevented him from attending. Johnnie loved to tell a good story. He had many good times over the years sharing stories with friends and family. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Obie Fisher Haddox; his parents; son-in-law, Jimmy Richmond; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Shaw Haddox; brothers-in-law: Charles Alger, R. L. Warner and Harold Arrant; and nephew, David Goforth.

 

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Johnnie D. Haddox (Phyllis), Rhonda Kay Richmond and  Belinda Gail Benson (Andy); sisters: Alma Warner, Lavenia Arrant, Charlene Alger and Ruth Goforth (John); grandchildren: Amanda Harrelson (Ricky), Jeffrey Haddox (Trisha), Amy Richmond (Sloan), Nancy Wyles (Sloan), Stacy Pepper (Justin), Jade Robicheaux (Nick) and Thomas Benson; great-grandchildren: Hannah, Thade, Elijah, Jesse, Lexi, Collin, Linden, Taylor, and Olivia in addition to numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffrey Haddox, Thomas Benson, Sloan Wyles, Sloan Hart, Ricky Harrelson and Jesse Richmond. Honorary pallbearers are Thade Haddox, Elijah Haddox, Collin Wyles, Lexi Morgan, Hannah Rabren, Linden Pepper, Taylor Pepper, Olivia Benson and his good friend, Randy Hatten.

 

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Haven Nursing Center for all the love and care they showed to Johnnie during his time there.
