Obituary of Thomas Alfred Harveston
Funeral services for Thomas A. “Pete” Harveston age 80 of Grayson will be held 1:00 PM Friday August 9, 2019 from the sanctuary of Cross Roads Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Duke officiating. Interment will follow in the Cross Roads Cemetery under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Thursday August 9 at the funeral home in Columbia from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service.
Thomas Alfred Harveston known by Pete to everyone was born on January 16, 1939 in Columbia to the union of his parents Leroy Harveston and Mable Henson Harveston, and he passed from this life on August 3, 2019 at the Winn Nursing and Rehab Center in Winnfield after injuries sustained in a fall. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his daughters: Christie Lynn Harveston and Cynthia Gail Harveston Street; by his son: Robi McClain and by his brother: Roy Harveston; and by his father and mother-in-law: Pete and Jean Scarbrough. Pete loved working cows and did so most of his life. He loved to fish and hunt and was loved by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his life and memories are his wife of thirty seven and one half years, Jackie Tanner Harveston of Grayson; two daughters: Melody Harveston of Grayson and Annette Little of Olla; his son: Charles Richard McClain (fiancee' Hope Johnson) of Grayson; sister: Sue Monnin of Winnsboro; his grandchildren: Angel Welch, Felicity Dickey, Nicolette Whitfield, Kristen Alger, Keith McClain, Charles Thomas McClain, Austin Shane McClain, Brian Michael McClain, Rebekah Berry and Brooklyn Bass; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Shane McClain, Charles Thomas McClain, Dallas Ray Goodwin, Nicholas Dewayne Goodwin, Rickey Crockett and Kenneth Goodwin, III.
