Obituary of Helen Louise Thacker Johnson

Funeral services for Helen Louise Thacker Johnson will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Tullos United Pentecostal Church, Tullos, Louisiana with Bro. Elzie Johnson and Bro. Jerry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia. The family will receive visitors from 5 PM until 8 PM Friday, September 13 at the church.

Helen Louise Thacker Johnson was born September 10, 1933 at Harrisonburg, Louisiana to the union of her parents, Maggie and Essic Thacker and she passed from this life September 11, 2019 at Jena, Louisiana. Helen was one of thirteen children. Growing up in a large family taught her the importance of family. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She loved her Lord and her church family at Tullos Pentecostal Church, where she attended until her health prevented her from going. She enjoyed working in her yard and going camping. She loved to play cards, work puzzles and draw. She will be greatly missed. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Lamar Johnson; son-in-law, Ronnie Shelton and her twelve brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Alton Johnson of Jena; daughters: Theresa Shelton of Pollock, Pamela Johnson of Jena, Robbin Johnson of Urania, Kathy Johnson of Urania and Debbie Johnson of Olla; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Heinley, A. C. Carter, Will Gable, Todd Prince, Shawn Soileau and Austin Shelton. Honorary pallbearer will be Josh Shelton.
