Obituary of Barbara Louise Holmes Head

Funeral services for Barbara Holmes Head, age 79 of Columbia will be held 10:00 AM Friday November 22,2019 from the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Rankin officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery with services under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Thursday November 21, 2019 at the church from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Barbara Louise Holmes Head was born on August 11, 1940 at Monroe, LA and passed from this life on Sunday November 17, 2019 at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria following an extended illness.

Mrs. Head was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. She loved fishing, crochet, being outdoors and loved working in her flower garden. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Billy Parnell Head.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are her daughters: Amy Shipp (Rod) and Lori Johnston (James); her grandchildren: Charles Heath Shipp (Cassie) and Alecia Phillips (Hoy Lane); her beloved great-grandchildren: Charles Lee Shipp, Caitlynn Shipp, Anna Kate Carr and Lane Phillips, and her loving, faithful, vienna sausage eating companion, Bull.

Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Head, Tyron Beckley, Allen Maxwell, Billy Lane McClanahan, Heath Gregory and Tom Woodard. Honorary pallbearers include Jerry Head and Bennie Ratcliff.
