Obituary of Marsha Sikes Kirby

Funeral services for Marsha Sikes Kirby will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Bethany Baptist Church, Hebert, LA with Bro. Kent Nugent officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 5 PM until 8 PM at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia.

Marsha Ann Sikes Kirby was born July 27, 1978 in Monroe to the union of her parents, Duane Sikes and Margie McCoy Sikes and she went to her heavenly home November 24, 2019 after a brave battle with cancer. Marsha was a devoted member of Columbia Heights Baptist Church. She worked for several years as a hairdresser but later attended Delta Community College where she earned a degree as a Louisiana Practical Nurse. It was truly her calling to take care of people. She gave special attention and care to all her patients. She worked at the Gastroenterology Clinic in Monroe for many years and she loved her co-workers, especially Dr. David Raines. She felt like they were her extended family. Marsha worked to not only raise awareness about cancer but to raise money for the Cancer Society by being involved in numerous cancer runs/walks throughout the years. She was a good friend and the life of the party. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding her in death was her daughter, Madison Blake Kirby and her brother, Donald Wayne Sikes.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Brandon Kirby; her parents: Margie and Duane Sikes and Marilyn and Troy Patton; her daughters: Haley Brooke Cherneski (Lowell) and Braylyn Grace Kirby; mother-in-law, Teresa Renae Kirby; her Granny, Glenda Pierce and special friends: Sharon Hartley and Angel White.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ty Ellerbe, Chad Ryan, Brian Duff, Jody Williams, Dustin Bates and Robert Sheppard. Honorary pallbearers are Steve May and Doug Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kirby family through an account set-up at Homeland Bank in Marsha's name.
