Obituary of Rose Mary McNamee Thompson
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Rose Mary Thompson, age 93 of Grayson will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson with Rev. Shane Duke officiating. Services are under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. The Thompson family will receive visitors on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Rose Mary Thompson was born on April 15, 1924 at Brooklyn, New York to the union of her parents, James McNamee and Loretta Cash McNamee, and she passed from this life on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. Rose Mary and her husband, Artis can be remembered for their years of service to Caldwell Parish High School, she as a cafeteria worker for sixteen years and he as head janitor. To know them was truly to love them. She and Artis met during World War II in Brooklyn, New York and their love endured all these years. She was a member of Grayson Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Artis Thompson, great-grandsons: Michael Parker Strong, James Gresham Strong and Joseph Miller Strong; her sisters: Ella Fink (Johnny) and Loretta Kaufman (Tony).
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are two daughters: Maureen Parker (Arnold) and Marie Cooley (Terry); her grandchildren: Dena Parker Strong (Richie), Reed Parker (Tammy), and Dusty Cooley (Jill); great-grandchildren: Dakota Cooley, Caleb Cooley, Seth Strong, Mary Cait Williams, Ryder Strong, Lauren Mosher, Michaela Parker, and Tyler Parker.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dusty Cooley, Reed Parker, Tyler Parker, Richie Strong, Seth Strong, Ryder Strong and Caleb Mosher. Honorary pallbearers include Dakota Cooley and Caleb Cooley.
