Obituary of Cora Edna Gunn White

Funeral services for Cora Edna Griffin Gunn White will be held 1:00 PM Thursday January 9, 2020 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. James King officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosefield Cemetery at Rosefield. The family will receive visitors on Thursday January 9 from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Mrs. White was born on September 27, 1931 at Duty Ferry, LA to the union of her parents L. D. Griffin and Bessie Cassels Griffin and she passed from this life on Monday January 6, 2020 at Plantation Oaks Nursing Center in Wisner. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents and by her two husbands, J.W. Gunn and Bill White; her brother: L. D. Griffin, Jr. and her sister: Emily Doris McKee Oliveaux and her grandson: Johnny Dewayne Gunn. She was a member of the New Ouachita Baptist Church and her hobbies included reading, watching tennis, and she loved to play the piano. She was a legal secretary for Attorney Roger Reeves until her retirement. She was a lovely person and will truly be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are son: Johnny Gunn (Cindy); two brothers: Bennie Griffin (Anna Marie) and Billy Wayne Griffin (Kathlene); her grandchildren: Malissia Gunn, Tammy Norris (Derick), Kristina Rudd, Dustin Gunn, Heather Gunn, Sloan Gunn (Ashley), nine great-grandchildren and fifteen great-great-grandchildren; special niece: Wanda Faul (Ronnie); and special friend: Vickie Griffin. Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Roark, Mike Ferrington, Ronnie Faul,Stanley Smith, Derick Norris and Cecil Griffin. Honorary pallbearers include: Lonnie “O.T.” Overturf and Joey Thibodeaux.
