Obituary of Tonya Boyer Smith

Funeral services for Tonya Boyer Smith age 45 of Monroe and formerly of Columbia will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday January 14, 2020 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Cripps officiating. Interment will follow in the Holum Baptist Church Cemetery at Holum. Visitation will be on Monday January 13, 2020 at Riser & Son Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Tonya Boyer Smith was born on April 9, 1974 at Vicksburg, Mississippi to the union of her parents James Clifton Boyer and Annie Willene Ellis and she passed from this life on January 11, 2020 at her residence in Monroe following a long but courageous battle with cancer. Tonya loved to travel and she was extremely resilient no matter what life threw at her. She always managed to smile through the pain. She was a jokester and loved to lift people up. She would light up a room with her smile. She always supported her children and worked very hard. She was a member of Life Church LaSalle and Our H.O.M.E. . She was a restaurant manager and was employed most recently at Riverside Coney Island in Monroe. Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are her daughter: Hadley Smith; son: Stran Smith and daughter-in-law Destinee Smith; her parents: Tom Hardy and Willene Hardy; her brothers: Mike Boyer and sister-in-law: Karen Boyer and Ricky Boyer; her sisters: Renee Simpson, Becky Norman and Deborah Moore. She was so looking forward to the the birth of her first granddaughter: Lyndi Marie Smith. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, cousins and other family members.
