Obituary of Regina Edythe Kirk Franklin

Regina Edythe Kirk Franklin was born September 12, 1940 to the union of her parents, W. C. Kirk, Sr. and Edythe Tarver Kirk in Clarks, LA. She passed peacefully to her heavenly home February 12, 2020 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia, LA with her family and friends by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter, Regina Ann and her beloved husband, Raymond A. Franklin. Regina graduated from Ouachita High School class of 1958 and was a member of Grayson Baptist Church. She was an artist, homemaker and entrepreneur having owned Bits N' Pieces for several years. She loved art, and you have probably seen some of her work around town. She loved nature, traveling and socializing with friends and family. She accompanied her husband as a distinguished guest for many parish and state events, meeting many people from different areas. Regina mentored exchange students from Finland and Germany. Always lending a helping hand, she was active in the community and the chamber of commerce. She was patient, kind and always had a pleasant smile. She loved her family and she loved Jesus. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Charlie Franklin, Debbie Franklin Volentine and husband, Hershel, and Raymond Franklin II; her grandchildren: Tasha Robertson (Rance), Dustin Volentine (Amanda), Logan Volentine (Robin) and Casey Franklin (Shelby); great-grandchildren: Camryn Volentine, Nolan Volentine and Parker Robertson; her brother, W. C. Kirk, Jr. (Ruth); brother-in-law, Wayne Franklin and her special friend, Joyce Rouillard. A celebration of her life will be held at the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia, LA on February 15, 2020 at 2 PM with Bro. Shane Duke and Bro. C. R. Martin officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2020 from 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson, LA following the services on Saturday. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Crain, David Harrelson, Rance Robertson, Kyle Berry, Dustin Volentine, Logan Volentine, Casey Franklin and Michael Braddock. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Braddock and Robert Collinson. Regina was a strong, unique woman who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Haven Nursing Center for the excellent, loving care and attention. Memorials can be made to St. Judes, Wounded Warriors, Paralyzed Veterans of America or a charity of your choice. "Beyond the Sunset is Eternal Joy."
