Rolene Lathel Griffin was born on December 19, 1934 to the union of Johnny Curry and Johnnie Cross Curry who predeceased her. She joined Brownville Baptist Church at an early age where she was baptized and where she attended church. She enrolled in the Caldwell Parish School System, and graduated from Union Central High School in 1953. On April 5, 1953, she married her sweetheart, Calvin O. Griffin, with whom she shared 67 years of marital bliss. The marital union produced three children.
Rolene was an avid homemaker whose passion was interior decorating. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and entertaining guests and family. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and sister.
Rolene leaves to mourn her departing: her spouse, Calvin O. Griffin; her three children: Alvin (Rita) Griffin, Lorraine Lathel Griffin, and Van (Vickie) Griffin; her siblings: Mac (Jeannie) Curry, Clayton (Betty) Curry, Doris Topping, and Cloteal Shepard; her grandchildren: Alvin Griffin, Jr., Adrian Griffin, Van Trell Griffin, and Tyrell Griffin; her sisters-in-law: Marylyn Griffin and Nora Griffin Brown; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Special appreciation to Dr. Marc Operario and Staff of the Caldwell Memorial Hospital and Rural Clinic, Dr. Colt Gummage and his staff of the Oncology Associates, Inc. of Monroe, and the Caldwell Parish Sheriff's Department.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, April 24, 2020 at Brownville Cemetery, Columbia, LA with Reverend Darryl Williams officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Van P. Griffin, Van Trell Griffin, Tyrell Griffin, Clay Bennett, Marshal Taylor, and Cedric Meredith.
