Obituary of Trent Thomas Parkerson

Memorial services for Trent Thomas Parkerson, age 18 of Trussville, Alabama will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Life Church of Columbia with Pastor Dean Love officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church prior to the service from noon until 2:00. Trent Thomas Parkerson was born February 27, 2002 in West Monroe, Louisiana and he went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2020 at Trussville, Alabama. Trent was the youngest son of Charles Thomas “Tink” Parkerson and Kathy Marie Hardy Parkerson. He was a member of the Church of the Highlands, Birmingham, Alabama. He had been accepted into the Mercedes Benz Megatronics Internship program at Shelton State Community College, where he was to attend in the fall. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Joe Hardy, Sr. and Jo and Thomas Parkerson. Those left to cherish his memory are his parents; his brother, Zane Joseph Parkerson; grandmother, Jackie Hardy; aunts: Shannon Alvarez, Renae Cubbit, Marilyn Wilson, Pip Wilson, Norma Spruell and Cathy Beckley; uncles: Shane Hardy, Joe Hardy, Jr., Kim Wilson and Dennis Alvarez, as well as a host of cousins and friends. Trent graduated this year from Hewitt-Trussville High School where he was involved in many extra-curricular activities as well as working at Target. He loved sports and played football, was on the wrestling team and worked out in the gym at every opportunity. His many friends have expressed how caring and generous he was, but he is most remembered for his contagious smile and his ability to lighten any situation with his perfectly timed jokes. Whether it be at football practice, in the classroom, or out with friends on the weekends, he never failed to put a smile on the faces of those around him. There are many kinds of people in this world. Some are watchers, some are hangers-on, some are talkers but there are some who are doers. Trent was a doer! He was never one to be idle and never one to watch when someone else needed a hand, never one to sit back and wait to be told or asked to perform a task. When he saw a need, he promptly and naturally sprang into action. Trent was a leader. That leadership also came with a love in his heart to serve and take care of others. Trent volunteered to help with many programs at school and work. He loved working with children. He always helped with football camps for kids. He had a natural ability to connect with younger kids and make them feel special. One of his coaches has said “he invested valuable time in children and that because of his influence a part of him will live on in kids that you and I don’t even know.” He also worked with Special Olympics and with groups of special needs children and adults who came to Urban Air. He loved seeing the joy in their faces and that brought him joy as well. Trent was truly a special young man who touched the lives of those around him. Trent’s love for his family was immeasurable. All his friends knew that Trent never left the house without telling his Mama he loved her. He especially enjoyed spending time with his brother. They were a family who loved the outdoors. Fishing, hunting, swimming and riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers were just a few of the activities where they spent quality time together as a family. This time helped shape Trent into the hard-working, caring young man he grew to be. Trent will be forever loved by all those who knew him. His memory will live on in the lives of those he touched in so many different ways. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Life Church of Columbia’s Benevolent Fund.
