Obituary of Linda Sutterfield Garrett

Funeral services for Linda Sutterfield Garrett, age 69 of Columbia, Louisiana, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 13, 2020 at St. John Catholic Church, Columbia, Louisiana with Father Dale Meade officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson, Louisiana under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 8 PM with a rosary service beginning at 7 PM on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia. It is requested that anyone attending the visitation or services wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Linda Sutterfield Garrett was born May 24, 1951 in Newellton, Louisiana to the union of her parents, George Sutterfield and Francis Cooper Sutterfield, and she passed from this life August 10, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, Louisiana after a brief illness. Linda was a devoted member of St. John Catholic Church in Columbia. She was a dedicated nurse who loved her patients and made sure they received the best care possible. She enjoyed traveling and especially loved trips to the beach. Her favorite football team was the Saints and she scoffed at the idea of another team being able to compete with them. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, John Garrett. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Cherie Garrett Phillips (Brian) and Candace Garrett; sisters: Debbie Sutterfield Dean and Connie Sutterfield Courtney (Jim); grandsons: Foster Phillips and Jack Phillips; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her work family: Dr. Mark Operario, his family and staff; co-workers at Caldwell Memorial Hospital and Haven Nursing Center. Linda was loved deeply by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Serving as pallbearers will be Jamie Brocato, Joey Brocato, Foster Phillips, Jack Phillips, Cody Brocato and Anthony Operario.
