Obituary of Barbara Jean Coates

Graveside funeral services for Barbara Jean Coates will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Fellowship Cemetery, Columbia, Louisiana with Bro. Jim McKeithen and Bro. Joe Aguillard officiating. Services will be under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Barbara Jean Williams Coates was born September 13, 1943 in Comanche, Oklahoma to the union of her parents, LV Williams and Verlon Best Williams, and she passed to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 09, 2020 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Norman Coates. Mrs. Bobbie loved taking care of her family and spending time with them. She had a nurturing spirit and a love of nature which led to her feeding and taking care of animals like birds, squirrels, deer and hummingbirds. She enjoyed traveling and site-seeing. One of her favorite times of the year was when the magnolia trees would bloom. When she wasn't able to get outside, she could be found playing games on her computer. She was dearly loved and will be missed greatly. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Landry Coates (Monica); daughters: Cathy Washington (Michael) and Chelette Harris (Jackie); brother, Ronnie Williams (Margie); sister, Joann White (Bob);grandchildren: Tasha Robertson (Rance), Casey Franklin (Shelby), Kristin Washington, Kayla Washington, Bailey Coates, Lindsey Coates, Nick Harris (Tiffany) and Haley Barnett (Heath); great-grandchildren: Parker, Rydder, Denny-Kay, Teagann, Waylen, Olivia, Kayden, Emma and Harper. Serving as pallbearers will be Nick Harris, Heath Barnett, Casey Franklin, Rance Robertson, Steve Briscoe and Aaron Briscoe.
