Obituary of Willard Glynn Stamper

Funeral services for Willard Glynn Stamper, 78 of Hebert will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 6, 2020 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Earnest officiating. Glynn's sister Joanne will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Woolen Lake Cemetery at Hebert. Visitation with the Stamper Family will be on Friday at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until time of service. Willard Glynn Stamper was born on January 25, 1942 at Hebert, LA to the union of his beloved parents, Woodrow Spurgeon Stamper and Nancy Edna Evans Stamper, and he passed from this life on November 3, 2020 at St. Joseph's Carpenter House in Shreveport following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents; by two brothers: Norman Grant Stamper and Edward Ray Stamper; a nephew, Joshua Duchesne; a niece, Ashlee Duchesne; and by two brothers-in-law: Rev. Lowell Brannen and Daniel Leo Gregory. Glynn was a 1961 graduate of Mangham High School. He proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam. He lived and worked his entire life in the Hebert area and as a heavy equipment operator in the pipeline/oil and gas industry. He was an active member of the Woolen Lake Church of God which is now House of Prayer International. Glynn was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to so many. Glynn was one of seven children born to Shorty and Edna Stamper and he leaves behind to cherish a lifetime of memories his sisters: Joyce Adams (Jimmie) of Columbia, Janis Brannen of Columbia, Joanne Lowery (Jerry) of Hallettsville, Texas and Jeanie Duchesne (Jeff) of Hebert. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a community of friends. He had three honorary cousins: Tuck Stamper, Troy Lee Stamper and Dennis Evans. Serving as pallbearers will be Jordi Duchesne, Bryan Lowery, Jessie Lowery, Michael Stamper, Jarod Stamper and Gus Krapt. DWayne Stamper will serve as honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to Gideons International at gideons.org/donate or the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.com/donate.
