James N. Franklin was born in Olla, LA to Andrew and Tabitha Franklin on December 12, 1938 and he was received into Heaven on November 7, 2020 at the age of 81. James was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ladner; brother, Lamar Franklin, Sr.; son, Andy Franklin; grandson, Logan Franklin; and his wife for 35 years and the love of his life, Louise Moore Franklin. James lived in LaSalle Parish most of his life until marrying Louise and he then moved to Grayson. He worked for International Paper for 25 years as a machine mechanic until he retired. He was never a man to be idle and he continued to keep himself busy mowing yards and helping others in any way he could. He was a faithful member of Columbia Heights Baptist Church. He was a devoted Christian and loved his church, where he enjoyed helping out by cleaning and mowing the church grounds. Bro. Warren Maxwell was not only his pastor but a wonderful friend. James enjoyed traveling with Branson, MO being his favorite destination. He and Louise went everywhere together and he missed her terribly after losing her just five months ago. James loved the time he was able to spend with his family because he loved them all so much. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him but especially his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Becky Franklin and Pam Jones (Brent); sisters: Carol Weaver and Debbie Monasco; brother, Gary Franklin; grandchildren: Dustin Jones (Charlie) and Paige Carraway (Jeremy); great-grandchildren: Kenlee and Kaylee Carraway and Landon and Carson Jones; sisters-in-law: Lola Bradford (Bobby), Dottie Luttrick (Johnny) and Patsy Eichelberger; Louise's children who he loved like his own: Max Scroggs (Cindy), James Scroggs (Clivette), John Scroggs (Elaine), Wanda Stroud (Randy), Eddie Scroggs (Sandy), and Michael Scroggs (Tamara), who altogether gave him another fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was known as PaPaw James by his grandchildren and he loved them all dearly.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Jones, Kenneth Fatheree, C. H. Boyd, Pat McDougald, Ray Lynn Bradford and Jimmy Lane Bradford.
